Mirror (2015-)

The left side of this artwork is a collage of various materials, such as plastic and metal, toys, and wrapping paper. By contrast, the right side is a mirror image of the collage, reproduced by using oil colors. The left side is the real image that actually exists and is stuck there, while the right side is a virtual image achieved by oil painting in an attempt to faithfully reproduce the real image. The materials used in the collage on the left may fade over time; they will turn yellow, deteriorate, and deform. However, the oil painting, which was a virtual image,” stays more colorful than the real image that once existed. Here, the mirroring of value occurs once again.
